Beginning Smocking  

Get started learning to create beautiful smocked items.  Students will learn all the basic geometric stitches, stitch placement, use of color in smocked design and the utilitarian purposes of the stitches.  Smocking book by Ellen McCarn included in the price.

Smocking Refresher

Did you smock for your children years ago and now you want to smock for Grandchildren but aren't sure you remember how?  Come for a refresher class. We'll review the stitches and show you the latest patterns and plates.  Smocking book by Ellen McCarn included in the price.

Pleater Class                                                           

You have a pleater, but now what?  Is it sitting on your sewing table staring at you because you’re not quite sure how to use it?  If so, this class will take the mystery out of your pleater.  In this class we will learn how to check for proper needle placement, needle condition, replacement of needles, pleating different types of fabrics including plaids and cleaning and maintenance of your pleater.  You will never be nervous around your pleater again.

  1 session -   Kit    $10.00

Picture Smocking                                            

Join the fun and learn to stack cables to create pictures. Students will learn how to read a pattern, how to do color changes,  hw to stop and start and to turn corners. Once you've completed your class sampler you’ll be ready to unleash your imagination to tackle all those beautiful smocking plates you’ve wanted to make.  Prerequisite to this class is completion of the Beginning Smocking Class or prior knowledge of smocking

Intermediate Smocking                            

 Enjoy taking your smocking skills to new levels. In this class students will  make a sampler which can be used as an inset in a pillow. Advanced stitches like crossover, honeycomb, alternating cable and beading will be taught.  Prerequisite to this class is completion of the Beginning Smocking Class or prior knowledge of smocking. 

2 sessions -   Kit    $35.00

Bishop construction                        

Learn how to complete your Bishop.  This class centers on construction. Students will learn how to make a placket, how to French Seam, and how to finish the neck band with no folded pleats.  Prerequisite to this class is a smocked Bishop ready to be put together.  Machine required.

Beginning Heirloom Sewing                                                                           

This class is for all who love the look of French hand sewing but prefer the speed of  their machine.  Working with entredeux, lace, beading and delicate fabric, students will gain confidence by undertaking a project that will allow them to learn all the basic skills of French Hand Sewing by machine.

Beginning Shadow Work Embroidery                                                          

Have you admired the lovely delicate embroidered shadow work you’ve seen in magazines?  In this class you will learn the steps to creating your own beautiful shadow work.  What a wonderful way to embellish a baby dress, or bib, or make that gift you’re giving truly one of a kind.
